The CNSWP User Theme provides a similar look and feel as the College of Natural Sciences, and its Departments to a CNSWP hosted web site. You can find an example of the CNSWP-User-Theme at the following development site. The directions that follow assume you are the Administrator of your site.
To activate this theme for your site, first log into the WordPress Admin Dashboard for your site. You can do this by appending ‘wp-admin’ to your site’s URL. Once you logged in, you will see ‘Appearance’ in the left hand menu. Select ‘Themes’ from this menu. You will be presented with a list of theme options. Scroll down until you see the ‘CNSWP-User-Theme’ and click on ‘Activate’ Your site has now switched themes.
You are not done of course; there are a few pieces of information that require some setup. These are explained below.
The ‘Menu’ settings are located in the left hand menu under the ‘Appearance’ item. Once you are looking at the menu settings, you will first add a new menu by giving it a name of ‘Main-Nav‘. Then click on the ‘Create Menu’ button.
This new menu will control the items that appear in the ‘Top Bar Navigation menu’. You are now free to add pages, or custom links using the tools on the same page. You can drag and drop items around within the menu to further customize the look. Be sure to click on the ‘Save Menu’ after making any changes.
You will want to set up the sidebar widgets in order to make things work properly. The ‘Widgets’ settings are located on the left hand menu under the ‘Appearance’ item. First, there are a few widgets that do not work with this theme, so avoid using them. These are:
Besides those listed above, you should select the widgets that will appear in the sidebar area that fit your needs.
That should be all! Enjoy!
