Postdoc Research – McKay Lab

This Fall semester, I started my second postdoctoral position, working with John McKay on genome assemblies of Arabidopsis accessions from the northern and southern limits of this model species’ geographic range, part of a broader NSF-funded project (Schemeske, DEB-1022202) on the genetic bases of local adaptation (see Agren and Schemske 2012 for background). We are building hybrid assemblies (using Illumina and 454 genome data) of the range margin accessions and looking for novel structural variants and polymorphic sites associated with phenotypic differences between northern and southern populations.
