I am interested in understanding the factors that drive variation in the abundance and distribution of species. I use phylogenetics, population and functional genomics, and field ecology to investigate how species’ geographic ranges are shaped by historical and contemporary processes, the genetic bases of phenotypic and ecological differentiation among populations, and how the phylogenetic structure of communities impacts the relative abundance of species.
