With Microsoft becoming increasingly more aggressive with the Windows 10 update notifications, I thought it was a good time to create an article with some tips on how to prevent an accidental upgrade.

First, the easy way (and recommended way).  Download the following standalone app called the GWX Control Panel here: (http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/GWX_control_panel.exe).  Download it, run it, and then click the “Disable Get Windows 10 App (permanently remove icon)” button. And then click the “Disable Operating System Upgrades in Windows Update” button too for good measure.  Please note, that you will need to have administrator rights on your computer to run this application.

If the above doesn’t work, there are some other manual steps to take from the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/228551/how-to-stop-windows-7-or-8-from-downloading-windows-10-automatically/

As always, please let us know if you need help or have any additional questions or concerns.
