I have just installed a plugin called the Admin-SSL plugin which will force the SSL use for any page on any site within BioWS that requests a password.  This means that there is a slight change in the behavior of the login pages, comments pages etc.  You will now notice that the URL for these pages will automatically switch to HTTPS instead of the normal HTTP.  This is a good change as we need to ensure that when we use our eIDs to authenticate, this information is encrypted when transmitted over the Internet

One thing to note, we are still working around the problem where our SSL certificates are not trusted by certain popular web browsers – please review this post if you need additional information: http://wp.natsci.colostate.edu/bioit/2010/01/06/ipsca-ssl-certificate-errors-in-firefox-and-safari
